My partner in this swap was Baloo. It's always a game of Russian roulette when you swap with a 'new swapper' in retrospect I think I was a pretty crap first time swapper myself. I sent my Dr Who Knitting Needle Roll... which... you know... did include a 12 inch embroidered design... which was pretty awesome... but I didn't really send anything else much... anyhow... I'm now a seasoned veteran (lol) I'm even ORGANISING a swap at the moment (I KNOW!! who died and made ME a responsible adult...)
Anyhoo, enough with this random meandering! check out the awesome stuff I received from this first time swapper on the British TV Comedy Swap!
I particularly love the baby-grows/Onesies. They completely appeal to my sense of humour an irreverence over the whole baby situation, and I DOUBLE love that I'm going to have a mam and baby matching T-shirt set!! hahaha!! AWESOME!. I wear a lot of t-shirt/jeans combos so those shirts will be well loved and the tote bag will completely be adored by all of my IT helpdesk friends (of which I have many). And the cute starbug!! that'll go in the baby's room too... when err... the baby gets a room

£1.50!!! (dudes that's $2.40 USD!!!) This is clearly the cutest piece of baby crockery in the WORLD and it's MINE!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

Embroidery Hoopla Swap: What I sent....
My partner on this swap was GoldSheepBowl Her wist had a bunch of cute, creepy embroideries inspired by Victorian freak shows.... So I ran with that and stitched up a personalised 'title' hoop and her very own bearded lady.
I stitched almost all of it in backstitch, I used a smidgen of chain stitch on the lady's (Tasha's :-) ) eyebrows, and a whole lotta french knots for her beard >.great effect before
See how I managed to work in use of my new overlocker to finish the hoops? I should have used matching thread... but that's the thing with the overlocker... every time you need new thread you gotta spend £10 on 4 spools... at the moment I only have green and red... more colours will come in time :-)
Here have my embroidery patterns!... they're rough round the edges but meh, you want perfection then pay for it!
the title piece is all mine except for the girl in the middle who is adapted from this colouring book page
Tasha is adapted from this image which is peppered around the internet:
I couldn't find an original credit for it though so if you know who it is/by let me know!

Nick Nak Bags for Bits and Bobs
yeyy more fused plastic bags!!
behold! ... what I'm calling a 'mini tote' and a clutch bag! ... click here if you want to know more about plastic fusing.
Lets look more closely and compare to previous attempts!
Lets look at the prototype
This bag was constructed out of 7 separate pieces (the sides and base were made from fusing bin bags together) and the straps are also made out of fused plastic... which took a long time and made bloody uncomfortable handles! the raw edges are exposed inside.
Now lets look at the next generation:

This bag was constructed out of 7 separate pieces (the sides and base were made from fusing bin bags together) and the straps are also made out of fused plastic... which took a long time and made bloody uncomfortable handles! the raw edges are exposed inside.
Now lets look at the next generation:
Improvements:
- Closures!!! a Zip on the clutch and Velcro on the tote
- Simpler and more effective construction process... each bag effectively now only contains 2 pieces of fused plastic (front and back) and the sides and base are made using this technique. This eliminates the need for finding colour coded plastic to create bases and sides... . something that would be impossible :-)
- Lining! isn't it pretty!! it opens the door for adding pockets etc and really gives a better finish to the completed article.
- Cotton webbing tape used for handles: makes MUCH nicer handles (ones that don't scratch your arm to bits!) Making handles out of fused plastic just not practical given the unpredictable nature of the 'shrinkage' that occurs with fused plastic.
